This project includes upgrading the existing interchange to a design called “double crossover diamond interchange” or “diverging diamond interchange.” This will be the first double crossover diamond interchange in the state, according to SCDOT.
The total budget for this project is approximately $14.1 million. In addition to the earmarked funds for this project, the county has also received $825,000 through the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program and $11.65 million from the Pennies 3 referendum.
Anticipated construction for this project will begin summer/fall of 2017 with a project completion date in 2019.
